My 8.4 iPad will not update

If you have an iPad that is still on iOS 8.4, it is, probably, an older model iPad.

An older model iPad CAN be upgraded to iOS 9.3.5 and maybe iOS 10.3.3.

We need to know what the iPad Model ID number is.

In Settings app, under General, About, find the Model ID number and post it here in another reply, so we can all determine what iPad model you have.

Depending on the age of your product, it may not be able to update to the next firmware of iOS.

If it is the original iPad Mini it cannot be upgraded higher than iOS 9.3.5 due to hardware limitations. You will probably need to connect your iPad to a computer running iTunes to accomplish that now. "Over-the-air" updates that old seldom work but using iTunes to get update usually does.
