Pdf markup in Files app

Is it possible to markup a pdf document in files on iPad? I had a button for it before, but after I updated to iOS 12, it disappeared and I am no longer able to markup documents.

I am having the same issue. I use files app to annotate my google drive files using my iPad for my business as multiple accounts share the drive but now we are unable to edit with ‘mark up’ which is a huge problem.

Can we revert to the old IOS where this is possible? I need to be able to do this.

I have an 1 out of 8 iPads that was not updated that we can still use but the others are now useless with my business model.

Hello adleta,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that you no longer have the option to use Markup on PDFs in the Files app on your iPad.

This feature is still available in iOS 12.1 and you should see the Markup icon located at the upper-right of your screen (near the Share icon) once you have selected a PDF from within the Files app. To further isolate if possible causes for this behavior, try selecting or saving a new PDF to Files, then check if Markup appears.

If you still don't see the option, force the Files app to close and restart your iPad:

  2. Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Another option is to ad your PDFs to your Apple Books Library, where you can also mark up the PDF:

Save and edit PDFs on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with the Books app - Apple Support

Cheers!
