How may I clean my mac of viruses without having to use 3rd party products?

The "mac format" used in the scam seemed so exactly like apple's format to extent I actually believed it and followed prompts to install a "clean up package"!

No. You mean there is an app to prevent such scam "pop ups" appearing on my mac? Would love to know that.

Hi Terence, I would want to tell you exactly what I did and am struggling how I may send you couple of photos I took with my mobile ( aussie for Cell phone) of the "pop ups" and even saved the so-called mac cleanup pro to my screen "dock". How do I send these to you?

If I have done something dangerously amiss, would like to know your assessment of things and what to do to correct things!

Mac Cleanup Pro It was "installed" ( I noticed it was a download process and appeared in the download folder ) onto the mac hard disk, and when prompted to bin or save to dock I chose the latter.

I have since deleted the download ( a .pkg file) and last night binned the file in the dock and emptied the basket. I hope that was the right action.
