payment information could not be updated

I had the same issues. I was told it must have been me typing the credit card info in wrong (fourteen times and once with someone reading the card info to me) or maybe it was the type of card I was using. I tried to explain that it was the same card since i bought my computer many moons ago, but they didn't seem to understand. They told me they wanted me to get my free downloads and upgrades and I was confused. Was this the same thing? Nope. Turns out, apple was not helpful. They told me the error I was experience was computer related. Some robot was sending me these messages. I told them I would resolve my issue and support immediately disconnected from me. I fixed my issue. I no longer buy from apple.
