Disk Utility error: btn: invalid btn_btree.bt_key_count (expected 6892005, actual 6892070)

I have a MBP (Retina, 13 inch, Early 2015) running up to date Mojave OS (version 10.14.1).

3.1 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3. Startup Disk: Mac HD

I have recently backed-up using Time Machine.

Today I ran Disk Utility and got this error message.

---

Checking snapshot 1 of 10.

error: btn: invalid btn_btree.bt_key_count (expected 6892005, actual 6892070)

Snapshot is invalid.

The volume /dev/rdisk1s1 could not be verified completely.

File system check exit code is 0.

Restoring the original state found as mounted.

---

After researching this error message, I did the following.

1. At startup, I entered recovery (Command + R), mounted the "ghost" MacHD drive and ran First Aid twice. Rebooted. When I ran Disk Utility I still have this error message.

2. I then at startup did Command + S, and entered "/sbin/fsck-fy", pressed return and got a message that this file could not be found.

Can someone tell what this error message means?

What I should do next?

Serge

I've done a SMC reset and a PRAM reset. I've reinstalled OS X. When I ran Disk Utility, I still have this error message. I've got a Genius appointment in 10 days. Here's the info from the latest run on DU. Anyone have an idea what is going on? Much appreciated.

I did a time machine restore and it somehow still had disk errors, so I had to erase the disk and then restore selected files from the time machine backup. That took about 8 hours (much slower than a full time machine restore).

My advice is do the restore as quickly as possible before you have too much new data (which you'll need backup manually--I copied to an iCloud folder).

I really think there was a recent update that caused this disk error. Fingers crossed it won't happen again.
