My ipad says software is up to date, but it's not the latest update

My iPad says that software is up to date but it's 9.3.5. How can I update to the latest version. Some of my apps will no longer work

iPad 2 Wi-Fi, iOS 9.3.5

The iPad 2 cannot update beyond iOS 9.3.5. You need a newer iPad if you want a newer iOS version.
