How does one remove instructions from voicemail? Remove the one that says wait for the beep

That is completely dependent on your carrier's email system. Most let you create your own outgoing message, and if you do that it can say anything that you want it to. But check with your carrier. You might have to do that by calling in to the voicemail server rather than using the Visual Voicemail function on your phone.
