Tech Tool Pro, reported Smart Check Results, Reported Uncorrectable Errors (187).
I ran Disk Utility. SMART status verified. Can this be fixed ?

Most likely, these are "non-repairable" errors. At least, not without replacing the drive itself. If this is the original drive that came with your notebook, this would indicate that the drive is starting to fail ... and should be replaced.

Possibly, but running your notebook from an external drive will have an overall performance penalty. I would recommend replacing it instead.
One great source for replacement drives and a "step-by-step" procedure to do so, would be Other World Computing, aka, MacSales.com.
Thanks. Would it be worth buying a new external drive ? Perhaps a FireWire or ?
If it makes a difference, it's an iMac, not a notebook.
