Apple Pencil 2nd Gen Not Charging/Recognized

Apple Pencil 2nd Gen no longer recognized or charges on new iPad Pro 12.9 256gb. There is no icon for battery when magnetized to iPad Pro. Help! Tried restarting iPad Pro of course and forget in Bluetooth preferences, now just nothing.

Had this same problem. Pencil would show connection OK, but wouldn't work. Attach pencil to the top and it would show pencil, but no info on charge. Looked in system preferences under battery and it showed pencil with 0 charge. Also upgraded iPad Pro to 12.1.1. Then followed similar, but slightly different instructions to do a hard reset, and, when completed, I placed the pencil on top, it showed 100% battery and was working again.

The directions for hard reset on my iPad was hold both the volume button and power button, then slide off. Then power back to get Apple logo.

Thanks for the help.

Try the new hard reset procedure for the new 2018 iPad Pro models

1. Press and Release the Volume Up button.

2. Then immediately Press and Release the Volume Down button.

3. Then, Press and Hold the Power Button at the top. You will see the Slide to Power off button, but keep on holding down the Power Button until you see the Apple logo, then let it go.

Once you have performed all the steps, wait for a few seconds and your 2018 iPad Pro will boot up completely to the iPad Pro’s Lock screen.

If still no joy.

Bring iPad and Pencil back to where you purchased and have the employees check out the iPad and Pencil and get another replacement new Pencil, if needed.

The Apple Pencil is warrantied for a full year.

Good Luck to You!
