I have an early 2016 MacBook (retina display). Battery life has declined severely over last year. I've run system diagnostics and it indicates no problems...but I may get only 2-3 hours of work time without a charge. Can the battery be replaced?

It's worth running a utility, called Battery Health2 which is available at Mac App Store for free before replace the battery.
You can replace the battery by yourself.
