Problems installing Final Cut Pro 3. You heard me, 3

I have recently been given a copy of Final Cut Pro 3 by my work. they have never used it simply because thye bought it not knowing it was Mac-only.

The installer claims the installation was successful but in attempting to open it I get the warning involving serial ID (a known issue, i think)

However in attempting to download and install updates, the installer claims that I need the original CD or get th ewarning "There was no CD-ROM authenticated. (err 0)

What's up? Is FCP 3 not Tiger compatible or is there something else?

Thanks.

Wasn't part of the scam for OS10's version of FCP3 that you had to have the OS9 version installed first?

Whew, long time ago.
I don't know how far back these forum archives go but, honestly, there aren't many people here who can remember the subtleties of software that far back. One's head has to empty to make room for the quirks and oddities of the new stuff.

You might check kenstone.net. I think there is still an FCP3 set of articles there.
