In my case firefox won't open certain links when clicked inside the same website. cnn.com, bbc.com

sometimes live bookmarks won't load properly... already verified and fixed permissions.

happening since the last security update.
don't know what's the relation with java. But it all started after the update.

Something I envy of Windows users? System Restore. Oh yes sisters and brothers, may Jobs... I mean, the Lord forgive me, aaaameeeen.

I am experiencing serious performance issues after the latest java update as well. I am certain it was the patch and not the security update released on the same day because I applied the patches seperately and noticed the affects immediately after the java update (Java for Mac OS X 10.4 Release 5). I have not experieced any crashes, just unbarebly slow, especially with java apps with rich user interfaces like thunderbird and firefox.

Well your patience may be rewarded as soon as Leopard and Time Machine arrive you will be able to have a point in time (System) restore.

I'm having the same thing, except worse. I took my computer to the mac genius bar and it kept crashing and crashing. They even reinstalled the system...no good. Kept the computer ran a diagnostic test on it, they came up with me having a bad hard drive. I replaced the hard drive, began installing on the new one and wouldn't you know it, same problem.

I put off installing the java updaters as my machine seems to run with out it. It still is freezing, randomly but at least it's running. Something it's not doing with the java updaters. It begins to startup and then the wheel just spins and spins. I let it go and went somewhere when I came back it was still spinning. I've reinstalled my software so many times now. I even did a zero low level reformat before installing. I run disk utilities constantly. HELP!!
