An AppleShare system error occurred

Does anyone with Intel Xserve AFP reshare from Xsan volume is getting this Error on AFP clients?

We replaced our file server from PowePC to Intel Xserver and we get this Error, the workaround is to stop start the Xsan volume.
My suspicion is that when MDC failover occurs to intel Xserver something gets screwed but I cant test this since this is a production environment...
I opened bug report 5021854 at Apple bug reporter I will post there any info that comes up from users here.

Hey guys,

I have also encountered this issue while setting up an XSAN network last week. Whenever a share is enabled through AFP that is on a SAN volume, all AFP shares generate the "APPLE FILESYSTEM ERROR HAS OCCURED" message from clients attempting to access the shares. Once the AFP share on the SAN is disabled, all other AFP shares work again. Yes the equipment consisted of Intel X-Serves running 10.4.8 and XRAID 1.5.1. All other servers(MDC,SMDC,FileServer) were on 10.4.8 as well.

I had the exact same issues.

All Intel Servers, XSAN, Shared Directory via AFP from the SAN, etc...

Turn on the AFP service and everything is fine.

Share the directory on the SAN and BANG, nothing works. (Share a directory from DAS and it always works. The SAN was the issue).

Updated to 10.4.9 on the servers and clients and everything now works as expected.
