Storing Asset Tags
Hi
I am looking at storing a 10 digit number used to identify each workstation in our organization. I would like to store this so it remains even after it is re imaged.
After looking around the internet, I found a utility "nvram" to store it in the NVRAM.
I was however informed by one of my colleagues that this method will void the warranty of any machine I use it on. He works as a hardware engineer for one of the apple resellers, so I am now worried is this the wrong way to store an asset tag ?
I would like to use the Mac address, but the organization has decided on a using their own tagging system.
