Random clicks, static in exports

This problem is getting on my nerves..

If I do an offline export in Logic Pro 7.2.x, I get random white noise/clicks in the file. There are no plugins or anything on the track(s), just one audio file being bounced to AIF or MP3. With realtime bounce the problem can be there, but it doesn't happen as often. Any ideas? Using a WD SATA drive for bouncing, Mac Pro 2.66Ghz, 3GB RAM. Really a PITA - it sends PC/Windows like SATA problems memories to my head... I thought these kind of things wouldn't happen on Mac.

Tried exporting to different drives, same thing.

Mac Pro 2.66 Ghz, Mac OS X (10.4.8), m-audio ProFire, 3x500GB WD SATA drives

Hi,
What audio interface are you using?

I had problems with WesternDrives hard drive that would spin up,and the spinning would be audible. The problem was a grounding problem. The ground betwwen the drive and the FireWire buss was the same, and was being passed to the audio interface.

Also, you might be experiencing the white noise/clicks because of a digital audio clocking problem.without knowing what audio interface you are using,or any digital devices like mixers,etc...it is hard to know where to start troubleshooting.

Cheers

Hi.

I am using an m-audio ProFire, but that really doesn't matter as I am talking about OFFLINE bounces. The soundcard is totally irrelevant in that situation, as everything is done by the CPU. I have got this one confirmed from other composers, so I am not alone. It is a BUG that Apple hopefully will be looking in to for Logic 8. It actually seems to happen more, the simpler your project is. I couldn't get a bounce without wild static and clicks about every 2 seconds when simply bouncing two audio files which I had to put together. On the other hand, yesterday I had one audio track with a DSP plugin, routed to a bus with AltiVerb and 4 VSTs also routed to that bus. That bounce was perfectly allright. Go figure...
