Mac OS shows STOP sign at startup

Hey there......well, my mac doesnt seem to work now, whenever i start it up, it stops at the screen where the apple comes up, and after a while a stop symbol comes up. Nothing can be done that i know of. But the thing is, im actually on the same machine right now, only im running windows.....now, i got some questions and hope they can be answered, these are:

Is all my data i had saved, music, photos, all files, doomed, or is there a way to get them back?

What can be done???

Thanks for the help. 😀

Hi Alfredtrek88;

With only 8 GB left free in the Mac partition, there is a good chance that you have managed to corrupt the files in that partition. I would suggest that you backup first. Then see if you can at least double the free space. Once you get that done then booting from the install media and repairing the disk with Disk Utility would be the next step.

Ooooh, there was a small thing i wondered about tho, have anyone heard about an issue when you are burning and the audio goes all screwy if you are listenin to music or whatcin a video, stuttering and all? It happened with me only in Windows so far tho, not on the mac os, but i would think it should go fine burnin cds on windows, is it normal with windows on mbp or?

Anyhow, thanks again for the help!
