Quicktime (Wnds): "Error 47 Invaild URL" and unable to load player

Whenever I load Quicktime from the start menu, I get an "Error 47 Invaild URL" pop-up.

Whenever I try to load a quicktime movie using the internal player, I get a pop-up stating that there is something wrong with a plug-in.

Whenever I uninstall Quicktime and try to reinstall it, I get an error message stating that a "newer version of Quicktime is already installed".

I just deleted everything Apple from my program files and reinstalled them, but it still does not work (though iTunes does)
What should I do to achieve a working Quicktime player?

I managed to sort out my Quick Time PRO issue but
tried this morning to access QuickTime 7.1.3 again
but error 47 invalid URL still exists. Why ask us to
pay for PRO but cannot use the software. Come on
Apple help us out!!

I've got both the Error 47 and the QT Pro issue having paid my £20 yesterday and entered the activation key sent me. Although it says QT Pro has activated as per the Apple instructions nothing has happened (ie no evidence of QT Pro on my system) and I am just left with a faulty player (and out of pocket) Any advice on how you solved the QT pro issue ?

I don't have any of these problems on my XP laptop and QuickTime version 7.1.3.
The "invalid URL" message may be caused by the link to the "Content Guide".
Standard install leaves an option to view the Content Guide at launch. Try turning off the feature:
Edit menu / Preferences / Player Preferences... / General tab
Under "Other:" remove the check mark to "Show Content Guide at startup" and click the Apply button.
Quit and relaunch QuickTime Player and see if the message is gone.
Don't know how to fix all your other problems as you've mucked things up by deleting manually instead of using Add/Remove software.

Does anyone know how to get a refund on the £20 I spent for QT Pro. I haven't got hours to spend solving this problem and if Apple have got a simple means of refunding me for something which doesn't work (for whatever reason) without a convoluted system of trying to find a solution then that's not good customer service.

From the File menu of QT player go to Open Url, from the pull down menu choose Clear History. I read, error 47 invalid url, has something to do with Real Player and QuickTime. Possibly a url from Real Player being in the QT Open URL? Also someone claimed when they unistalled Real Player it solved the problem, I would try clearing history to see if that helps.
