Extremely slow downloads of TV shows and music videos

Until around Feb 15th I had no problems downloading TV shows episodes in about 40 minutes time for ~500MB file. Since Feb 15 it takes about 40 to 48 hours (yes, HOURS!!!) for each episode to download. I purchased Madonna's Confessions Tour video (1.43GB) today and it also is slow as ****, showing 96 hours to finish, taking about 6 minutes to download just 1MB.

What a heck is going on?!!!

Emails to Apple support resulted in generic, ** *sht reply that I should have a broadband connection to download from iTunes Store, regardless the fact that I clearly explained in my emails that I have broadband cable connection and downloading for example 100MB file from Apple Support Downloads server takes me under 6 minutes. Subsequent emails with more explanations and speed tests results showing my connection's download at 1.94 MB/s resulted in reply "Sorry, we cannot help you as we are only dealing with basic iTunes support".

What a crap it is?!!!!

Anyone with the same problem? Anyone with a solution?

Well, I can't help you, but can only tell you that I am in the same boat. Downloads started out fast, but now downloading a 1hour TV show takes over 60hours! My computer is going to burn down at this rate!

I'm guessing that they've got too much traffic?

I have also had horrible experiences with their non-responsive customer service department. I try to support Apple, but they better get their Sh*t together soon!

Andrew - I am an American living on an American Air Force Base in Japan and I'm having the same problem and have received zero positive responses from Apple. WIFI connections here seem to move an hour or two faster per MB, but not what I expected from Apple Products and all the pre-sale hype. Have you found any resolution or responses to your download problem?

Anyone with the same problem??

all i can do is agree with you- again very very slow in portugal from US site with high speed broadband and all the help i can give it at this end! made big mistake of buying all mythbusters, extreme engineering and shark week for my sons ipod in one chunk before i realised the slowness and had to leave my computer working away at downloading for 2-3 days!!! NIGHTMARE!
to top it all i now keep getting error code -100008 and am unable to download what i have bought even when i delete and check for purchases again.
judging from what you have all been saying it may be a while til i get a response from apple as to whats wrong!

I found this on error code -100008 from another post:

"I do have the latest version of itunes. FYI what did take care of the problem was turning off MacAfee firewall and turning off cybersitter."

This should also speed up downloads - Make sure you are allowing full access to the ports needed for the iTunes Store through any firewall, anti-virus or your ISP.
