Powerbook G3 Lombard screen and other moding (possible horror)
I recently dug out my G3 powerbook and got to thinking about some possible projects I could use it for as I no longer need it.
Firstly I'm wondering if it's possible to turn the screen into a stand alone VGA monitor. Is there a pinout for it anywhere? does it need a special controler board? Is this at all reasonable, or am I totaly crazy. I've seen a few similar mods for PC laptops but I can't find any info for a G3 screen beyond the laptop's supported resolutions.
Second, the keyboard seems to have lost function with a few keys, given the life of abuse this poor machine has had that's not suprising to me. Can anyone recommend someplace to get a replacement keyboard?
I haven't looked deep inside this laptop in quite a while so I don't recall what the innards are like, but would it be possible to pull out the track pad and extend the wires, making it external in essence for mounting in a different type of enclosure?
Thanks to anyone who cares to respond, any insight or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
One potential project from these parts is to build the system into my car as a supped up mp3 player/passenger entertainment center. It's light, relatively low power consumption and has a dvd player already... and/or the screen could be further modified into a VGA LCD projector in theory.
