Netgear DG834N and Airport Extreme g

I have just purchased a Netgear DG834N (preN) dsl modem router and using this with the Airport Extreme g card in my IMAC g5 and with a bundled WN511B (pre n) pcmcia card in a pc laptop.

With the IMAC I am getting connectivity but the signal strength is worse thanmy old Netgear g router - any ideas why ? and how do I improve the signal on the Netgear N router ?

With the PCMCIA card in the laptop I am getting the same story - again, any idea why.

PS - get excellent speed when ethernet connected to the router - thanks for your assistance .....

Hi Duane - thanks for the advice. I shall try this, but there has been no change in external conditions that may cause interference from when I used a netgeat g router/modeme to when I am now using a Netgear N router/modem.....so why the drop in signal on my MAC - even when the MAC is 12 inches from the router ?? And the signal rises and falls for no obvious reason - however it does start off with 15 bars, but fluctuates continually, averaging around 8 bars.

Any advice/guidance greatly appreciated.

Many thanks, Simon
