Can't remove preference pane

I installed STEERMOUSE then I removed it after a while. Problem is, the prefpane is still appearing in the others section of system preferences. I used the spotlight to search for other steermouse files, but nothing was found. I looked inside the User>Library>PreferencePanes folder but steermouse is no longer there.

How can I remove it?

Did you uninstall Steermouse by opening Steermouse and choosing "Uninstall" from the Help menu? If not you'll probably have to reinstall it and uninstall it properly.

To reinstall make sure Finder is showing in the menu bar at the top of the screen, click the Go menu and choose Go to Folder... Type /Library/Receipts/ and press Return on the keyboard.

In the Receipts window that opens look for SteerMouse.pkg and drag it to the Trash. Now download and install Steermouse. Once it's installed again, open Steermouse from the System Preference window, click Help, select Uninstall...

That should take care of it for you. 🙂

suppose you're right.

The OP said he couldn't find anything else to do with Steermouse &, I presumed, wanted to remove the icon from the Preferences Pane. He says he has searched Users>Library>PreferencePanes, I wonder if he's looked in HD>Library>PreferencePanes?

Steve

Edit: Or HD>System>Library>PreferencePanes.

}

I looked under HD>Library>PreferencePanes and HD>System>Library>PreferencePanes. Steermouse is not present in both.
