I am trying to convert FLAC files into Apple Lossless. I know there is a way to do this in Windows through itunesencode and foobar 2000, but I haven't found a way to do this with Mac OS.

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.4)

I use MAX (http://sbooth.org/Max/) to convert FLAC to AIFF, import them into iTunes, and then convert them to Apple Lossless within iTunes. It works very well.

Look for dbpoweramp. It'll convert back and forth between most any audio format available. Its free unless you want the ability to convert to mp3.
Once you download dbpoweramp, you need to download plugins for some of the formats you want to use. There are plugins for Apple Lossless and FLAC.
One its all installed, there is a batch conversion feature that'll let you leave the conversion running till its done.

Foobar2000, also free, has a plugin Apple Lossless and handles FLAC by default. Once the plugin is installed, it'll also do batch conversion for you.

Sorry I can't give you better instructions. Not near my home computers.

I've done FLAC to Apple Lossless and vice versa with both and haven't had any problems.
