Vim and color settings

Hi
I'm usin the latest version of Iterm. I downloaded some colorschemes for vim and installed them in an appropriate manner...and they work -- sort of. The colors are not as they should be and i'm at a loss as to why this is.

I realize this is short but am hoping someone can send me in the right direction.

Thanks

Hi

Sorry i was a bit unclear. No i dont mean syntax highlightinh, i mean colorschemes for vim.. for instance on www.vim.org you can download a colorscheme called rdark.vim

its supposed to look like this http://ld.yi.org/vim/rdark/

but running vim on my powerbook after having installed rdark.vim in
.vim/colors/

and changing .vimrc in my homefolder to "color rdark"

makes no change whatsoever. Something other than vim seems to be controlling the colors.

All very confusing to me any way.

Thanks
