Speck Hard Cover for MacBook

Has anyone used these hard covers for their MacBook?

http://www.speckproducts.com/13mac-seethru.html

I've read a few comments regarding the extra plastic from the cover preventing the display of the MacBook from opening as far as it normally would without the cover. I just haven't seen any comments regarding how much of a difference it makes.

Hi JoeyR,

I saw that products at some apple stores when I stop by.

Looking good, but I prefer using vynil cling to protect the macbook from scratch, and it won't preventing the display open far.

But since there is no complain from speck user yet and there is no essential need to open the macbook too far, maybe the speck see thru is a good option to protect the macbook too.

Love to hear from other speck user too.

Peace Out.

Just installed a clear Speck case on my BlackBook and it
looks cool. Also, my MacBook is actually running cooler! I think because I usually have the laptop on top of a laptop case, and the heat wasn't able to dissipate as well as it can now.
One concern. The little tabs that hold the case on to the MacBook seem a little flimsy. Anyone else notice this? It is cool though, and I am not concerned that this beautiful machine will get scratched now.

It would be nice to have a few more tabs I think... but I did do some research before I bought mine and didn't really see any comments about them breaking. I would like maybe two in the front... but I guess that would be hard to do and maintain the look. With the way you have to open the MacBook (held shut with magnets) I feel like I'm pushing the cover when I open it... but nothing major.

What about Skin from Bestskinever? I´m already use it on my MB and it´s great! It´s cheaper than spec´s case and I think it´s protect your laptop better, cause have skins to protect the crititcal areas inside MB. And, It´s true, Mr. Jobs must be in contact with HP and Sony to learn how to build a beautifull and ¨resistant¨ laptop.

Hi, I already asked them via email. When u open your speck case, verify your mac case because my speck case scratch my mac case (sandpaper effect)..I already sent it back to Amazon. This is the response from speck about your question :

To remove please try:

Tip one: Please remove the case by turning it over so its top down. Then use your fingernail tips and pull there the "tabs" are to undo the bottom case.

Tip Two: With the MacBook case, resting in its normal position with the cover open. Use something like a credit card or drivers license and place it between the case and the laptop where the tab on the front corners of the bottom case are. It should detach that way as well.

Hey I got one of these Speck cases in red for my macbook a few months ago and used it for a little over a month to protect my computer from scratches. Well, one day I decided it was time to clean underneath this thing because dust was easily accumulating around the edges. To my surprise my macbook had several scratches from which I suspect were from the case and the dirt rubbing against each other. And this was from very light use! It seems like I was better off without the case because it caused me more harm than good.

I really recommend using an alternative such as Bestskinsever or the Invisible Shield along with a sleeve for the best protection from my personal experience. The Speck case seems like a great idea, but it's impossible to keep dirt from going underneath the thing after prolonged usage.
