want incoming mail to 'automatically' go to specific folder

I'm getting a lot of mail from a particular source that I want to keep, but not fill up my mailbox every day.

Is there a way to set 'Mail' to automatically siphon off these incoming emails to a particular folder?

Is this what 'smart folders' are?

I just want to know it is possible and I'll do my homework.

Thank you most kindly,

Ben

A Smart Folder will automatically update itself based on the criteria that you configure it to use. However, the messages stay in their respective folders.

If you wanted instead to move the message as it's delivered to a separate folder, you should:
*create the folder
*create a Rule (under Preferences, Rules) to direct all incoming e-mail from the source/person to that folder
