New Airport Update Issues

Just downloaded and installed the new updates for Airport Extreme and now it won't accept my network password? I changed it on my router and still it won't accept it when I know it is correct?

Was there a problem with the update?

Hi- am new to these discussion boards bit may have something to add.

I am also having problems since the update - wont accept wpa, forced to use wep with 128 bit key - however intermittently the airport just stops connecting. Have tracked it down to the letters 0x or $ being added to the beginning of the string but in order to get it to connect again I have to delete the profile, apply, make a new profile, apply and wait - this works 6 out of 10 times but the other 4 times hangs the computer.
Whilst this has made my working day more 'interesting' it reminds me of early windows days.
ps am using asus wl54g but this has not caused any problems up to now - have restarted and re-configured it multiple times to no avail
pps the latest update (yesterday) has not solved the problem

Just tried the www.macfixit.com update uninstall procedure without any problem so far. I tried download the OSX file from the link provided but I could not find the airport extension. I have to use the original installation CD that came with my Macbook. I used Pacifist and find the old extension. I replaced the new extension with the old one and reboot. I am now able to connect not just with WPA but also WPA2 with Dlink DI-624 version 3. So far so good. I'll provide more update if I run into any more problem. The moral? Never install any update w/o checking with the forum first.

Chiming in to post a problem from the new update. I'm on a MacBook Pro Intel and was working fine with WPA and the Belkin N router. After the new update, Airport has been working terrible. It drops the connection from time to time and won't find the network when I wake the computer or restart.

There is a knowledgebase article on having to delete the network from your preferences. This seemed to work but I get intermittent problems still.

I hope Apple devs are looking into what happened and let us know.

I've downloaded the update aswell, and now i can't connect to my own modem either. I can connect to my neighbours unprotected network though.

I've made my own network unsecured, and tried to connect, but that didn't work either. I just keep getting that error.

I'm on a SiteCom router. When i just bought this MacBook, about 2 months ago I had the same problem, but i fixed it by dowloading all updates (airport included) but since this new update it just doesnt work anymore.

Help? 😟

Apples latest Airport update broke the WPA connectability with several brands of wireless routers, D-Link (which I also have with WPA) no longer works since the update. Only with WEP or open network can I connect now with my Mac - Hopefully they provide a new update soon. To all of you that have problems with the latest wireless update - please contact APPLE with your router brand and model and what security you use if any (WEP or WPA etc...) So they can make a new update.

ANYONE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE LATEST UPDATE-PLEASE LET US AND APPLE KNOW WHICH ROUTER AND SECURITY PROTOCOL YOU ARE USING.

KEEP POSTING to this forum to keep it near the top of the page for others to find and post to.

I have a D-Link-624 with WPA that stopped working after the latest update. All works great IF I lower or remove my security settings.

I've tried that bug report and I get an error when I try to enter my Apple ID and password.

It also says the following:

"ADC Membership is required to use this tool.

The Apple Bug Reporter uses a secure 128-bit encryption.
Please note: Idle time to disconnect is 60 minutes."

I am not a ADC member so where does an average joe Mac user go to report this?

It took 2 months of update work before my daughter's new MacBook Core 2 Duo would finally talk to our SMC2804WBRP-G wireless router (all the time Apple blamed the router manufacturer even though it worked perfectly with two Dell laptops). My daughter unfortunately installed the latest update and now it won't connect again. I've tried everything - they are back to not speaking to each other.

I hope a fix is quickly in the works.
