Sounds a bit "organ grinder & monkey" to me, no offense to street entertainers and/or entrepreneurial primates. 😉
I'm pretty sure that for each web site hit you can determine the browser that "hit" you. Ok, debug mode in Safari, & from Opera you could spoof the browser id, however I think 99% of people accessing HSBC aren't doing that. So, HSBC know who is using which browser. Whether they act on that information is another matter ?
I've no sympathy for UK banks though, given they are making £4bn p.a. in unlawful bank charges from customers they can afford to fund their IT dept to support sufficient configurations to keep customers happy!?
Who is to say that HSBC won't stop supporting Firefox for an equally arbitrary reason !? Then where do we go....
