How do I get my music from my ipod onto my new imac

I have an ipod mini and just bought a new imac. When I plug the ipod in it says it is already sync'd to one library and I cannot sync it to another. I am clueless about how to get my music onto my computer...lol. This is probably complicated by the fact that I've never had a mac before. I also bought a new nano so once I get my music onto the mac I want to get it onto the new nano. Maybe I am doing this all bassackwards?

Appreciate any help you can give!
