Help: What is Tracking Servo Failure?

When burning Dvds with DVD studio Pro I get the following hardware error message.

The drive reported an error:

HARDWARE ERROR
TRACKING SERVO FAILURE (0x09, 0x02)

I am wondering if it could just be a bad batch of DVDs (Datawrite red 16 speed), though I have used this make successfully previously. Or could it be something more serious? After all it says hardware failure...
Strangely enough, the recorder burns Cds using Itunes fine.
Has anybody come across this before?

I'd appreciate your insight...

Hello again, it appears the problem was DVD-media related. I bought a different make (Philips DVD-R) and the project burned fine. Moreover, I tested a Datawrite DVD in another Macbook Pro, burning files with Finder. The burn process failed, stating the recorder lost connection to drive. So Datawrite DVDs are a no no.
It looks like the Hardware Error message in DVDSP might refer not to the drive itself but maybe the media used in this case. Makes sense now.

Thank you both for your comments.
