High Speed AVI Clips in Final Cut???

I am trying to use two .avi clips a client sent me that were fimled on a high speed camera. They are 2,000 fps. So of course when I bring them into Final Cut they are like 3 frames. Is there a way to convert or encode them into a standard frame rate and utilize the slow motion captured by the high speed camera?

G5, Mac OS X (10.4.8), GOOD

I've tried the same settings I'm using in my project and the same settings of the original avi clip @ a high fps. The exported QT file gives me a File error when I try to import it. Unknown File error (at 2000fps). I tried using current frame rate and custom on the export. no luck on either.

I think I will try and see if the client can give me some background on how they aquired and exported the footage.

If Anyone has any ideas please let me know, I'll be watching this thread.

OK...here is the confusion. You cannot have a 2000fps clip in FCP. What needs to be done is that clip needs to converted to 29.97...this making the image extreme slo-motion. Which is what you wanted anyway, right? The clip I have was of an explosion that was shot 2000fps, then converted to 29.97, thus giving me a gorgeous slow motion shot of this explosion.

What they need to do is convert this for you. I doubt that you'd be able to work with the original file.
