Jensen ipod clock radio

I bought the jensen ipod clock radio and i keep my 2 gb ipod on it like all the time so it charges alot and when i turned it on today almost all of the battery was drained...should i take it off of the dock whenever its done charging and im not listening to it or leave it on all the time like im doing right now??
