Can't add Files/folders to .DMG

Help please. I created a Disk Image using DIsk Utility and set a password. However it won't accept files or folders when I drag and drop onto it. The DMG is big enough for the files I want to put in it - these are primarily video files. The DMG also Verifies OK when checked with Disk Utility.

When I try to open the DMG, I get a dialog box and type in the password, but nothing further appears to happen after the dialog box disappears.

What is the trick to actually putting files inside my Disk Image?

Thank you very much. The problem was, because I have System Preferences set up not to show hard drives and volumes on the desktop, the mounted volume wasn't appearing there, even 'though I could see it was mounted in Disk Utility.

Prompted by your answer, I found the volume in my Finder and was able to drag and drop contents to it there. Ta-da!
