Driver cleaner

My wife passed away in July 2006 and I have just started to use her computer again. Got a pop-up ad about a "driver cleaner", to erase any extra internet sites visited that clearing cookies, cache, and history won't completely delete. Since some of her medical information is there I would like to get rid of all those extra "ghosts" as they mentioned. How do I obtain a "driver cleaner". Can't find one when I did a search in Apple Store. If I can download it from a Mac site please let me know. I have OS X 10.4.9. Any help would be appreciated.

That driver cleaner is essentially spam for a windows program that won't work on your mac and probably doesn't work to well on a windows machine either. You can ignore that and just delete the data files that contain the medical information. If you are really concerned then you can Secure Empty Trash from the Finder/File menu. Unless your machine is accessible to the public you really have no worries. When it is time to give away the eMac then you can erase and overwrite the harddrive so ALL information is gone for good.
