Error message: Timer or Timeout Inactive!

The error message window goes on to say: Check other applications using Timer or MIDI (Code 0). I've accessed an old discussion about this topic, and some seemed to solve the problem by uninstalling, or re-installing, M-Audio software. I have M-Audio installed apparently, but can't find an uninstall function, and can't get the application to activate properly. I don't think I need M-Audio anymore; can't really remember why I installed it in the first place!Can I uninstall it by simply trashing the application and all related items? Is there any other recommended solution to this error?
