Energy Saver Does Not Have UPS Tab

I noticed that Energy Saver does not have a UPS tab. All it show is Sleep and Options. I thought that I saw it there before. The only thing that I have done to the system is add all software updates, including 10.4.9.

Is there any way to get it back? I want to show Energy Saver in the Menu Bar, but that option is gone too.

20" IMac G5, Mac OS X (10.4.9), 2 GB RAM, APC Back UPS XS 1500

I have noticed the same thing with my APC ES 650 UPS. If you unplug the USB cable and plug it back in the energy saver options and the menu bar icon will come back. However, after a restart they will be gone again. The unplug/replug thing is just a short term fix until Apple goes back and fixes what they broke.

I'm on PPC, but in my case, installing the 10.4.9 combo updater did fix the problem.

No offense, but I'm not sure it's a problem caused by Apple. I have an APC HT 1500 and I still have a UPS tab and Energy Saver in the Menu Bar.

Are all other functions in Energy Saver working?

I have an APC Back-Ups 725 ES and it still appears in my Energy Saver settings after updating to 10.4.9.

I have an APC back UPS ES 350 and am able to use their PowerChute Personal Edition software for a separate System Preference panel for power fail-safe options. Available at: http://www.apcc.com/tools/download/index.cfm
I thought there used to be a menu item available before ~ but forget when I lost it.

I have the same problem with CyberPower UPS. It lists in the system profiler. Their documentation pictures an UPS tab on the Energy Saver panel. Could connecting a power USB hub between the UPS and computer be the problem?

My UPS is connected via a USB hub and it shows up. If you're looking in Energy Saver, what menu selections do you have for "Settings For:"? I have "Power Adapter" and "UPS" and only see the tab for the UPS if I have "UPS" selected.

That did it. CyberPower shows an Optimization drop down menu below that here: http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/OSX_UPS.asp. I don't have that one, do you?

That's on my PowerBook, but not my iMac. I don't recall ever seeing it on a desktop. My guess is that the person doing the graphics for that site was loading the software on a laptop in order to get the screen grabs.

Two thing to check:

#1. You must have the Battery Menu Extras item enabled.
(Some 3rd Party apps can let you disable)

#2. In BOTH the Power Adapter and UPS, you might have to check the "Show UPS status in the menu bar" checked.

That fixed it for me.
