Itunes desktop icon will not open

try right clicking the icon and the click open or you could if your computer account is password is protected

click "run as"

reply if it worked....

Are you getting any error messages when you try to launch it? Or do you get an hourglass that flashes away and then nothing happens?

If this just happened out of the blue, my guess would be you picked up a certain piece of malware that causes iTunes to behave exactly as you described. It's annoying, but of course, fixable. I would go download a free program by the name of AVG Free Antispyware. It has been historically accurate in picking the Qoologic Malware and removing it. This is the one that does this to iTunes. I would run that and then re-try. Let me know of your progress.

No answers but to share that here's another user getting the exact same problem, iTunes upgrade to 7.1 just will not open, by clicking or double-clicking or right-clicking the desktop shortcut or by going to the Programs menu, I get the hourglass for two seconds also then nothing. No error message either.

Something is NOT right with this upgrade - wish I had the old one back!!!

Well, good! That's good enough, right? Also, filehippo.com has old versions of iTunes if you ever run into such a problem again.
