Is Appleworks right for me?

I'm a new teacher and am looking for a program that I can make calenders for my classroom as well as newsletters and posters. Will Appleworks meet my needs? Thanks!

Hi,

Welcome to Apple Discussions and the AppleWorks forum.

AppleWorks can make calendars, newsletters and posters, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it at this stage of it's career and this stage of yours.

AppleWorks works well under Rosetta on the intel based Macs (including the MacBook), but there are clear indications the application is at the end of its development cycle.

AppleWorks's last update was in January 2004. In January, 2005, Steve Jobs announced to developers that "in iWork, Apple was building the successor to AppleWorks."

Barry

But since then iWork not really became a successor, because it misses a database, professional spreadsheet and business drawing tool.

Have you considered alternate office apps, like the one discussed here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=898420&tstart=0
