Editing and exporting a DivX video

I don't know much about DivX and encoding. I have a DivX .avi video that plays fine in quicktime, and I can even import it and edit it in Final Cut without rendering (as long as I have Unlimited RT on, it plays fine, but does have the orange "unlimited render" shading). What export settings should I use to export the finished edit? I want to maintain the crisp clean look of the original DivX clip. Do I also have to change the sequence settings?

I can only suggest that you choose some other compressor other than DivX on the Mac platform. The Mac version is not well designed, compared with the Windows version. Its motion search takes quite a lot of time, and the Mac version only supports MP3 for audio compressor.

yes, i figured as much, but the only export settings I was happy with made a file that was way bigger than the original, even though the length was relatively the same. I'm talking like 8 times bigger.
