When I am using Mac OS 10.4 in MacBook, I can never get the order right when previewing pictures in Preview. I got a folder of images (about 60 - 150), each ended with a number say XYZ_001, XYZ_002... I then use "Command + A" to select them all and use "Command+O" to open them in Preview. However in Preview, the images were NEVER shown in numerical order, which, say starting from XYZ_001, XYZ_002 then XYZ_120 XYZ_121. I don't know why and THIS PROBLEM JUST EXIST in my MACBOOK! (I have been practicing this in my PowerBook G4 12" for 2 years and it worked completely fine!)
Can anyone help?
Hi! I have this exact same problem and I just found out how to solve it.
Ctrl-click on any image in the window and select "Sort by...Name." If you're like me, "Sort by...Name" is ALREADY selected. If so, select any other option, like "Date," let it rearrange them by date, and then ctrl-click again and select "Name." This time, they will come back in the right order.
So see, here's how I open my files now:
1. Select all.
2. Double-click or choose "Open in Preview."
3. Ctrl-click one of the thumbnails in the Preview window.
4. Choose "Sort by... Date."
5. Ctrl-click one of the thumbnails in the Preview window.
6. Choose "Sort by... Name."
7. Enjoy viewing my files in the proper order! 🙂
You need to be in Column view to have this work in Tiger. The Finder has gotten deranged about passing things in correct alphnumeric order in any other view. Somebody goofed up.
