Sending a sub-clip FCP to motion

Hey,

Can someone please help me out here?

I am attempting to delve into the world of Motion, and am having a few problems even before I get started.

I wanted to add a few effects to a video clip in my FCP project that I am working on. The problem is that everytime I try to send the clip to motion,
the clip gets lost in the shuffle. What I mean here is... that Motion opens up and says that it can't find the media (the clip). In the past I have sent clips from FCP to Motion and never had this problem before.
I was wondering if the cause of this problem could be from the way the clip was originally captured and broken down. I originally captured the video for this project using "capture now", and then I broke the master clip into sub-clips using "DV stop start detect".
So I guess what I am trying to ask here is....
Does it really matter if a clip is a sub-clip when routed from FCP to Motion?
or what else could I be doing wrong that the clip isn't being found when I try to send it to Motion?

Hopefully you can understand what I am asking here,

Todd

It may be related to the fact it's a subclip. But did you know many of Motion's filters are available directly inside FCP as of 5.1.2? Check your Effects tab. Likely the filter you want to use is there and you don't even need to leave FCP.

But if you want to send to Motion, do a test and export the subclip as a self-contained movie, import, replace, and send that.

Hey Patrick,

Thanks for jumping in on my thread,
No I don't have any speed changes going on in the clip.
The only thing that is out of the ordinary at all is that it is a sub-clip,
but I didn't think that would really make any difference,
since I thought motion would access the file from the master clip.

Any help here would be helpful,

Todd
