My ATV is hooked up to my non-HD projector using component cables to VGA with a 480p resolution. It works fine, just had to set projector in 16:9 mode so that things didn't look squished. It's a temp solution as I'm getting an HD projector to replace this one soon, but it works.

Which projector is that? I'm using InFocus SP4805. I plan to use component video connection too as the DVI port is for my DVD Player. Hopefully component video would fair better than S-Video which I'm hooking up from MBP to projector. AppleTV will spare me the manaully wired setup every time I wanna watch my iTunes video contents.

I have mine hooked up to my old InFocus 4805 while my IN76 is in for warranty repair. I've watched a movie I purchased on ITMS, a home movie I made and a "Best of YouTube" PodCast and they all looked great. I thought the ITMS movie especially looked awesome. The home movie and Pod Cast were designed for my iPod so obviously left a bit to be desired on my 7 foot wide screen ... but they were fine all things considered. I've since used Quicktime Pro and it's "Movie to Apple TV" setting to re-convert my home movie which (I believe) more than trippled it's size but I've yet to watch it to compare.

I have it hooked up through my Yamaha receiver, HDMI out to the 4805 using an adapter for the 4805's pin input. I can't wait to see it on my IN76!

Great! A SP4805 user like me. I guess I will upgrade to newer HDTV-ready InFocus projector when the time comes.

I figure than if I do streaming, I won't be able to output audio from my Mac. The audio has to be done with the AppleTV. Guess I have to go out and get the Gefen 2x1 digital audio switcher (DAS) soon.

For video, my setup will be:
DVD Player > DVI > SP4805
AppleTV > Component Video > SP4805

For audio:
DVD Player > Input 1 > Coaxial > Gefen DAS > Coaxial Out > YSP1000
AppleTV > Input 2 > Toslink > Gefen DAS > Coaxial Out > YSP1000

Gefen DAS > Toslink Out > Dolby Wireless Headphone

For this setup, I will have a choice of listening to my DVD Player and AppleTV with either my speaker or headphone.

In the Netherlands, anticipating a delivery of my Apple TV next week. I plan to hook it up to my new Epson TW-620 720p native projector. So far, I've got the projector hooked up to my PowerPC 2ghz G5 via VGA. Already, the quality, at 1280 x 720, looks great. I anticipate the quality to get just a little bit better when hooked up to the ATV, using native HDMI.

I'll let you know after it's hooked up. Should be a fun wall-o-movies, quite soon. Just add milkduds.

Just hooked up my AppleTV to my Infocus 7205 projector (720p native) via a DVDO VP20 scaler. did this for a number of reasons including the ability to scale from component to HDMI and to use the VP20 as an HDMI switch into my projector.

Apple TV works fine via the VP20 to the projector. I just wish I had some itunes HD content to show it off.

WOW! Setting up with my InFocus SP4805 is a breeze!

Connect via component video.

Right now, I have to use the headphones for audio until I receive my digital audio switcher. Sigh...

AppleTV just made my day. Er... make my entertainment viewing simpler.
