You do need to remember the user and password requested refer to the computer to which you are connecting. In other words, when you are on computer A connecting to computer B, the required information is about computer B. -

If you are the only person using the network, create a user name for each computer and then use that same name as the password. Or, use the name of the computer like powerbook and iMac. Make it easy for you.

DesktopsThe password is set in the Sharing Control Panel. The name can be set there, too. You cannot enable File Sharing until you set a password (it cannot be blank, to protect you from bad guys who might get on your network).
