I have a new Apple TV set to 1080i on a proview 19 inch wide screen TV after using the Apple Tv for about four hours I get red hash bars about one inch long with a row of bars then a black space and more bars. This covers the bottom half of the screen with the menu and puts up or flashes the bars when view a slide show or a video. Any ideas as to the cause and a solution.
I have tried the Apple TV with the 720p and 480p and 480i resolutions and the hash bars are in all. I am connected via the component connectors. I did un plug it for an hour and after it warmed up the bars came back. Can the Apple TV be turned off with the remote or from itunes?
You can place the Apple TV into standby mode by holding down the Play/Pause button for five seconds. When you hold down the Play/Pause button for five seconds, Apple TV goes into standby mode (display dims and hard drive spins down). Pressing any button on the remote while in standby mode wakes Apple TV.
Hello
Just an update to the screen hash problem. Over the week of ownership the problem has got worse and makes watching anything useless. I will be making the 3 hour treck to the Apple store for service tomorrow.
Good news the problem was do to equipment failure and the unit has been replaced by my local Apple store. The new unit work fantastic the quality is very good and I am now a very happy camper.
