HDMI and Vizio HDTV-problems

Well everything with my Vizio 46" HDTV and my DVR cable box from comcast was working fine through HDMI 1 port for many months.

My Vizio has 2 HDMI ports and 2 component ports.

Then I connected the new ATV last night to the second HDMI port- and..nothing, not even a start up screen. Worse than that- now my HDTV does not get a signal through the HDMI 1 port and I can't watch TV!!!!!

Neither HDMI port works !
I had to connect the cable box to Component in the meantine-just so we could watch TV.

but no Apple TV on HDMI 😟

second component port has the DVD player- so I can't disconnect that.

any suggestions?????

Sorry to hear...

Did you try powering down the LCD TV and devices and start cold? Although HDMI design accommodates hot plugging, the HDMI/HDCP support of the monitor may have trouble reinitializing afterward.

Some early devices with HDMI were fragile and susceptible to failure, but that's not been the case for some time now.

I hope that's all it is...

Good luck.

Bummer. My 42" Vizio LCD problem is this: Switching from HDMI 2 (APPLE TV) to HDMI 1 (Comcast-Motorola DVR) results in no output. Switching the other direction is no problem. Solution is to turn the TV off and on while in HDMI 1. I will search the VIZIO forum here:

once the problem ticks me off finally.
