"Boing boing" sound

About once or twice a day, my computer makes a random 'boing boing' noise. When it first started, I assumed it was the sound of an advert from a webpage. But this also happens when I'm in the finder when I don't have pages open, or I'm on other random sites (without advertising on them).

This sound is almost like a canned sound, it's quite animated. Something you'd get from a cartoon. There is no similar sound when I go to system preferences / sound.

There is another thread about this in the archive, but with no solution. Anyone have an ideas?

That's bizarre. I've never heard of anything like that before.

Does it happen randomly or at the same time(s) every day? I would check System Preferences > Date and Time > Clock and see if the little box next to "Announce the time" is checked.

Other than that, I have no clue what could be happening. Maybe some of the better brains on here will have an idea! 😉
