ATV Sees Wireless, but wont connect, error -6

I opened my ATV today and was like a little bot on Christmas... Until I attempted to connect! My wireless router is plain jane wide open, not wep, not mac filter, no nothing... Wide open! I have had several computers, including the little illegetimate kid accross the street using my connection. Never had problem one... When I fired up my ATV after getting all the necessary connections hooked, it progressed to finding the available wifi networks. My ATV sees my network, but when I attempt to connect, it says unable to connect, error -6. What does this mean? I gave up on the wifi and drug out my dusty cobwebed RJ45 cable and strung it up to my ATV. I was connected and Syncing within 1 minute! Everything worked great, looked great and was awesome. After I was sure that my ATV worked, I disconnected my RJ45 and attempted to connect wirelessly again with no success... Any ideas???

I've been having the same problem through out the day. I have bounced my wireless router a couple of times aswell as the ATV. The ATV will connect to the network for a while, but then drop out. We have a d-linl ADSL router modem which is connected to oue brand new Airport Extreme via a Cat5. The ATV is about 8' away on the other side of the room. I have also had connect error -23 as well as -6 and -1.

I figured it out... Ok, well, I figured out MY problem. It turns out it was a compatibility issue with my router. Tried many things, but I ended up letting the Apple Store shake me down for another 179 clams for the extreme base. As with all other apple products, plugged it in and it worked. Turned on my ATV, connected perfectly! So, those in my shoes, i know you dont want to hear this, but the problem might be your existing hardware. Go figure... Look on the bright side, once you get your ATV working, its GREAT!

I'm having the same problem: ATV sees my network (not all the time btw) but won't connect with the correct password. I get multiple error messages (0, 3, 6). I'm using a brand new Airport Extreme Base Station, to which I can connect with a laptop without problems. I already connected the ATV once, then turned it off overnight and now it won't connect anymore. I also tried changing the channel (no effect) and restarting ATV (effect: ATV connected to my neighbour's network and doesnt't even see mine anymore).

Any suggestions?

Hi there,

here were are and having problems with something, that will normally not have any problems, because it is from Apple...
Ok, I had the same problem. Going to my appleTV dealer, they asked me, if I used a firewall?? Oh yes I do.
Putting the firewall off, the stream from MAC to appleTV worked!

Be sure that, under "share" in system-configuration iTunes & iPhoto sharing is active!
Hope, this will help you all. It helped me.
