Fan Problems Aaaah!!!! Help

hello,

i've been using SMC fan Control to control the speed of my fans
( http://81.169.182.62/~eidac/software/page5/page5.html)

for when my mac gets stupidly hot.
it really helps er... helped!

and now it is registering that one of my fans is on zero rpm, i.e. broken.
NO!!!!!!
so. i am obviously worried. should i stop using my mac completely until i get a replacement, will i BURN OUT MY CHIP?! Help
advice

i also installed fans widget which displays fan speed (for a second opinion) and it also registers ZERO.

if my chip WILL overheat and burn, can i disable it for the time being?

macbook pro, Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Ive tried SMC fancontrol once but quicly deleted it, i just dont feel comfortable messing around with something that important, my guess is SMC pushed your fan too hard for too long and it broke. I also used the fans widget but found that the widget uses a lot of CPU power after running for a while, meaning your CPU will get hotter so best thing you can do now is to get rid of that widget and the SMC software and keep a very close eye on your mac's temperature if you decide to use it before a new fan is put in. iStat Pro widget will give you very detailed info.
I suggest using your mac as little as possible until a new fan is in place...
Good luck.

for the past 2 days, my MBP's fans starting to squrting... i honestly dont want to take it into apple repair, but i guess there is no options... if the fan does not work probably, it will either burned out your CPU or GPU chip, either way is no good... waste thing is the notebook is just over a year old, is it really out of warranty?

i got error code 4MOT/1/40000002:Left_Middle-Front

I can clearly see it says LEFT up there.
but can you tell me which fan is broken, and my fans widget displays the right one as 0 RPM.

I used SMC fan control one last time to see if i could feel / hear which is broken. I cranked it to 4500RPM and it very much sounds and feels like the left is fine.

No air comes out of the right side of the grille at the back of the laptop.

how can i find out which fan is broken.

MOT/1 is the left fan as far as I'm aware, and that message means it's failed and needs replacing a.s.a.p.

If SMC or other utilities are reporting both fans have failed then get it in to Apple immediately and don't use it! There is thermal protection in place that will just shut the MacBook down if it gets too warm but I'd not risk it for long.
