New 1.66 Mhz Intel Mac Mini & Apple Studio 17inch CRT Display Issues

I'm having issues with my Apple Studio Display CRT. The problem is every 1-2 minutes the screen seems to quickly shift inwards for a brief second ... about 1-2 milimeters, then snap back into place ok. The resolution looks clear when the issue isn't present, and no hum, noise from the mac mini ... my new mini has an Intel GMA 950. I've reset my PRAM etc, to no avail. I've run a hardware test following the instructions in the apple manual, and used the DVD that came with the computer to run the test, and it comes back 'test ok'. Any suggestions? I've heard I might need a new DVI to VGA adapter??? Thanks in advance for any ideas.From the "About This Mac" screen here is the setup "Apple Studio Display:

Jeff, welcome!

In my personal experience, a shifting CRT display is often a sign of an older monitor that is approaching the end of its usable life -- although I hope that is not the issue in your case.

Does this display do the same thing when attached to other computers?

Do you have other Resolution/Frequency choices you can try?

Hi Boece,

I found the problem was the old JBL speakers -- I guess they were getting old, and causing some type of short circuit, which affected my monitor.

I could hear a crackling sound with the JBL's so I replaced them with new Bose Companion II's and this fixed the problem with the screen resolution issues.

My 5 year old Apple Studio CRT screen looks beautiful with the Intel GMA 950. Its incredibly clear -- amazing quality!
