Ultrabeat continues to play inspite of no reigon being there..

I have dragged sequence to track..and would like it to play intermitently..but it continues to play even where there are no reigons..
Anyone tell me the blindingly obvious yet hidden answer to my question?
🙂 thanks

OMG - a female on the board. Welcome - you are as rare as hens' teeth! I've just interviewed 24 applicants for places on next years Creative Music Tech degree course. Male: 24; Female: 0. Try employing positive discrimination on those statistics.

Back to Ultrabeat. My first thought is that you have some entries in Ultrabeat's sequencer. It's independent of the Logic regions and will run whether or not there are any MIDI notes coming in from a track. That's in your category of blindingly obvious so you may already have seen that.

Of the 80-something males on my music tech course..i am one of 4 females..its abit strange i guess because theres no reason why girls wouldnt be interested in the subject..i mean its not like i'm constantly breaking nails or anything..:)

🙂..correct on the blindingly obvious things..
i seem to remember Redrum does something silly like this too..(maybe its not silly and there is a secret reason why this makes sense..but i cant find it)

am i supposed to create the entire song sequence in Ultrabeat? if not how do i get Ultrabeat to trigger solely from the midi reigons?

Use Ultrabeat for your signature patterns & loops. Keep them in Ultrabeat and they're available for you to use regularly. It's (marginally) harder to keep regularly used patterns in MIDI files sicne they don't have the associated kit soudns with them.

The point is that Ultrbeat's sequencer and Logic's arrange window are independent. You can drag sequences from UB to the arrange window if you want to manipulate them but loading in a compelte Ultrabeat set brings with it both drum sounds and patterns.

It's a big topic - probably too big for a forum entry. Talk your teaching staff into buying the following:

Hi TEG
Check the Ultrabeat internal sequencer. It's like RMX or BFD. You can drag MIDI to arrange window of Logic to play in Logic's sequencer. But you have to clear - or stop - the internal sequencer of your plug in (in this case UltraBeat). It will keep playing otherwise.
Also ... with BFD it will play from both arrange and internal plug in sequencer and cause phase cancellation.
