I recently bought an ibook G3 on ebay with the intention of fixing it and either reselling it or keeping it for light use. It happens to have a broken display. It seems that the hinge is extremely tight, as it squeaks when i manage to pull the display up with both hands. Apparantly, the hinge became this way for whatever reason and the previous owner, not knowing, went to pull open the display, putting pressure on the bottom of the bezel and cracking the entire LCD. I am wondering if anyone has had a problem with this before or has any ideas as to the reason for the problem. I would really rather know what exactly is wrong before removing 51 screws and most of the major components to replace the screen. Thank You!
